Images in album covers

In album covers, the images need to usually portray a certain aspect about the particular band like roses and skeletons etc. In many situations, a style is usually decided upon creation of the band and usually incorporates images to allow the user to interpret the meaning behind it. However, in most cases, the consumer rarely takes the time to interpret or understand the image and would rather just listen to the music. I think that in certain aspects, the image on the cover also plays a large part whether or not a person would buy the product as it indirectly affects a person's choice compared to 1 with much lesser effort put into it.
Although this is all just my opinion and that sometimes people would just buy it whether or not the cover art looks good or not if that particular band still interests them.
